A second child with a severe combined immunodeficiency ((SCID), also known as bubble babies, detected thanks to the Newborn Screening (NBS) performed with the heel test at Hospital Clínic was admitted to the Vall d'Hebron Children's Hospital.

Since 2017, when the Department of Health of the Generalitat of Catalonia launched the NBS, a total of 200,000 heel tests have been done to detect SCID.
